New Soccer Program

Rationale:

Our program challenges every individual to learn and develop their technical skills in a game passionately embraced in the St. Nicholas community.  Through game strategies and tactical skills, the students proudly achieve the ability to play the game at high levels of competition.  Students also are taught to plan and run clinics to teach younger students inspiring their leadership. 

Program Director:

Highly respected with the students, our Program Director, Marco Bossio, shares 20 years of high level playing experience and seven years of coaching teams at provincial levels.  The students feed of his energy, passion for the sport, expertise, and fun ways that bring students to love soccer and excel in this great sport.

Where does the training occur for the program:

Students will receive on and off field training sessions.  On field training includes skill development using the gymnasium, outdoor field, Rundle soccer field,  East Indoor Soccer Centre and Victoria Soccer Centre.  Off field sessions include fitness training in St. Nicholas' New Fitness Training facility.

The Soccer  Program develops leadership by:

• students planning and running soccer clinics for elementary schools

• hosting an indoor soccer tournament elementary schools

• training with soccer program students at O'Leary High School

• skill demonstrations to the public

• hosting a summer soccer camp in August

How do you become part of the St. Nicholas soccer program?

• The cost covers expenses with no profit made and is dependent on costs of indoor soccer centre, transportation and number of students enrolled. 

• recommendations from teachers or a contract between student and soccer program coordinator to maintain excellence in attitude homework completion, and effort  in all all academic subjects.
