Mothers’ Day Message
Mary, the Mother of God and patroness of Edmonton Catholic Schools, is the
Queen of all saints because she made the most diligent use of the rich treasure
of grace which God granted to her. Through her unfailing devotion to her
son, Jesus, she lived a life full of hope and peace and guides us as we learn
to live our lives based on the virtues of faith, hope and love.
The District’s theme this year, Life of Grace…Ministry of Hope, connects our
lives to Mary and our own mothers. Mothers are God’s gift to
humans. They are given the wonderful privilege of participating with God
in the creation of new life and bringing hope into the world. Theirs is
the great honour and responsibility of nurturing their children and providing
them with a foundation that impacts them throughout their lives.
On this special day, we pray for all mothers, grandmothers and those
entrusted with this care-giving role. We give thanks for the many ways we
are graced because of all the love, kindness and support they have bestowed
upon us. We pray that God will continually bless mothers, granting them
immeasurable joy as they share in the lives of their children. May He
grant them courage and strength, compassion and peace so they can guide their
children throughout their lives.
Loving God,
you have given us life and cared for
us through our mothers.
We thank you for their lives, their
care and the wisdom they have taught us.
Fill them today and all days with
your Holy Spirit of wisdom and love.
Bless them with the graces they need
to fulfill their vocation.
Help them to hear your voice and
follow you.
May we honor them always with a
spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our
Lord.
Amen
